The Burden of Road Trauma:

Road trauma is a deadly issue that costs countless lives around the world. Every day, families are shattered, and communities are left grieving due to road crashes. In Australia, road crashes remain a significant cause of injury and death. The toll it takes on individuals, families, and society as a whole is immeasurable. Western Australia lags behind most states in road trauma statistics and there does not appear to be an effective strategy to reduce this quickly.

At the Perth Injury and Trauma Research Institute (PITRI), we are involved in understanding the complexities of road trauma and developing effective strategies to prevent and mitigate its impact. Since our beginning PITRI has supported individual researchers and teams of collaborative researchers in WA who have been at the forefront of research, striving to make our roads safer for everyone.

How Donors Can Support Research:

Your support can be a massive force in our mission to combat road trauma. By contributing to our research efforts, you play a crucial role in the following ways

Funding Life-Saving Research: Your donations enable us to conduct groundbreaking research into the causes and consequences of road crashes. With your help, we can explore innovative interventions and technologies to reduce road trauma and save lives.

Enhancing Road Safety Initiatives: PITRI collaborates with various stakeholders, including government agencies and road safety organisations, to advocate evidence-based road safety policies. Your support empowers us to work towards the implementation of these life-saving initiatives.

Empowering Victims and Their Families: With your contributions, we can provide support to victims of road accidents and their families. Our research not only focuses on prevention but also on improving the rehabilitation and support systems for those affected by road trauma.

Raising Awareness: Your donations help us spread awareness about the importance of road safety through educational campaigns and public outreach. By sharing our findings with other groups (such as Injury Matters, Australian College of Road Safety) and by informing the community, we can foster a culture of responsible driving and reduce the number of road accidents.

Developing Safer Infrastructure: Part of our research involves studying road design and infrastructure to identify potential hazards and recommend improvements. Your support allows us to advocate for safer roads and transportation systems.

Your generosity has the power to make a significant impact on reducing road trauma and creating a safer environment for everyone. Together, we can work towards a future with fewer road crashes and fewer families torn apart by this preventable tragedy.

Join us in our commitment to making a difference. By donating today, you become a vital part of the solution to road trauma. Road Trauma can affect you or your family.

Your donations today may be responsible for protecting your own family in the future. Together, we can save lives and build a better, safer tomorrow for our communities. Thank you for your support
